DOUG MAHLIK RETURNS TO ASA RACING

PENDLETON, Ind. (January 12, 2004) - Wisconsin Late Model veteran Doug Mahlik
has announced his plans to compete in the 2004 ASA Late Model Series. Mahlik will
drive the No. 98 Chevrolet utilizing a RanderCar Chassis.

"With the engine program and the regionalized schedule of 14 dates, the ASA Late
Model Series is very affordable," said Mahlik. "The series will not require the sponsorship
dollars or the man power to compete in a Nationally Touring series," added Mahlik.

Mahlik will make his series debut at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wis.,
on Saturday, May 8.

"It's going to be a packed house at Madison with Matt Kenseth competing with the Late
Model Series. It's great to have a NASCAR Champion racing with us in our first event. It
will be a huge benefit to the series."

Mahlik began his driving career in 1992, gaining six years of experience in the IMCA
Modifieds. He secured a track championship, rookie of the year honors and additionally
placed second in the Super Nationals at Boone Speedway in Iowa.

In 2000, he switched to asphalt and began competing at Wisconsin International
Raceway near Green Bay, Wis. He finished just outside of the top 10 in the points and
grabbed rookie of the year honors.

Mahlik competed for rookie honors in the ASA National Tour in 2002, making 11
appearances in the 20-race schedule. His best performance came at Wisconsin
International Raceway, crossing the line in ninth position.

After a one-year hiatus from ASA Racing, Mahlik plans a return in 2004 with the ASA
Late Model Series.

"We are aiming for the championship. Preparation is going to be key with the events
being 100 laps. The car has to be handling good when the race starts without having the
luxury of making pit stops and making changes on the car. The attrition rate is going to
be small, so it will be very important to be finishing races," added Mahlik.

The American Speed Association is based in Pendleton, Ind., and has offered stock car
racing programs since 1968, including the ASA National Tour, ASA Late Model Series
