Toyota triples vehicle sales in Russia in 2003

MOSCOW January 11, 2004; Japan Today reported that Toyota Motor Corp sold 26,472 vehicles in Russia in 2003, almost three times its 2002 tally, company officials said Friday.

Toyota has launched a feasibility study for local production, and has informally told Russian authorities it will begin making vehicles here when annual sales reach the level of 50,000 units, according to Japan-Russia relations sources. (Kyodo News)
