Reynolds and Reynolds' Networkcar(TM) Wins Prestigious Consumer Electronics Association Award

Technology streamlines car maintenance and increases safety and security

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 8 -- Networkcar(TM), a Reynolds and Reynolds company , announced today that the company has received a Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) Best of Innovations Award in the Mobile Electronics category for its automobile diagnostics and location monitoring system.

Networkcar's technology will be displayed alongside other award-winning products in the Innovations 2004 Design & Engineering Showcase during the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the Grand Lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center January 8-11, 2004. CES is the world's largest annual trade show for consumer technology.

"Networkcar's technology and service make it much easier for car owners to operate and maintain their cars," said Dave Dutch, president, Networkcar. "We help customers in case of major events like vehicle theft or breakdown, but we also automate their car maintenance activities for them. Networkcar also proactively and immediately notifies customers if there is a problem, and provides a Web site where they can review their car's service history, real-time location, recalls and other important operating information."

Networkcar's system collects and organizes detailed automotive information directly from a vehicle's engine computer and location-based information from a global positioning system (GPS). Maintenance and operation information is transmitted wirelessly to an information center where it is made available to car owners, automotive dealerships, service areas and fleets in the form of immediate e-mail alerts, summary e-mail reports or easy-to-read Web pages. Networkcar's technology is compatible with virtually all cars and trucks manufactured since 1996.

Innovations 2004 is sponsored by CEA and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Since 1989, this prestigious awards program has given consumer technology manufacturers and developers an opportunity to have their newest products judged by a preeminent panel of journalists, designers and engineers. Product evaluations are based on innovative design and qualities, user value, aesthetics, and contributions to the quality of life. This year entries were submitted for over 700 products.
