DaimlerChrysler Total Sales Down In 2003
DETROIT, Jan 5, 2003: Reuters reported that carmaker DaimlerChrysler said on Monday it sold 3.82 million cars globally in 2003, down from 3.98 million the previous year.
The car giant said its Chrysler unit sold 2.61 million vehicles in 2003 versus 2.74 million a year ago, while Mercedes and Smart car sales dropped to 1.22 million from 1.23 million the previous year.
DaimlerChrysler said Mercedes sold 218,700 cars in the United States in 2003, a 2.6 percent rise on 2002. It said Chrysler sold 2.13 million units in the United States in 2003, a fall of four percent from the previous year.
