LONDON, January 5 -- Amicus National Secretary for the automotive industry, Duncan Simpson, said:

"The second tranche of action begins today with withdrawal by union members of the flexible working time arrangements and we will be meeting with senior shop stewards at the plant on Wednesday to discuss next steps.

"I would call upon the company to reopen negotiations with the union to avoid a possible escalation of the dispute."
