Chevrolet Announces Silverado Fleetside Prices
DETROIT - All-new 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Fleetside and GMC Sierra Wideside half-ton Crew Cab pickups will have manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRP) starting at $31,145 for the base two-wheel-drive Silverado LS and $31,610 for the two-wheel-drive Sierra SLE when they begin arriving at dealerships in late January. Prices include a destination charge of $850.
The half-ton Crew Cabs give Chevy and GMC new entries in one of the fastest-growing segments of the truck market. Teamed with GM's HD Crew Cabs and the innovative Chevrolet Avalanche, they give GM the broadest lineup of full-size crew cab pickups in the market.
Reflective of their individual brand characters, Silverado and Sierra half-ton Crew Cabs feature unique styling, equipment content, and option packages.
As part of its model lineup, Silverado offers a specially equipped Z71 Off-Road model. The Z71 Off-Road suspension package itself is available on four-wheel-drive Sierra SLE and SLT models as a $300 option. A Z85 handling / trailering package, specially tuned for optimum ride and improved handling, is one of the trucks' many standard features.

Silverado and Sierra half-ton Crew Cabs provide four full-sized doors; roomy, comfortable six-passenger seating and a new 5-foot 8-inch cargo bed that permits easy handling, parking and garageability, without compromising the trucking capabilities customers expect of GM full-size pickups.
"Our newest Sierra Crew Cabs' many class-leading features, such as the highest available payloads, and exclusives like a driver information center clearly provide a new level of Professonal Grade capabilities for half-ton customers," said Pontiac GMC General Manager Lynn Myers.
"Silverado half-ton Crew Cabs are not only designed to further Chevrolet's reputation for providing the most dependable, long-lasting trucks, but are generously equipped to make them an outstanding customer value," added Chevrolet General Manager Brent Dewar.
All half-ton Crew Cabs are powered by GM's Vortec 5300 V-8, with 295 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque, coupled to the highly proven, smooth-shifting Hydra-Matic 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission.
Even base models, like the Silverado LS or Sierra SLE, are well equipped with standard items such as power windows and door locks; individual dual-zone (driver and passenger) manual climate control; cruise control; uplevel custom cloth split bench seats; remote keyless entry; AM/FM stereo with CD; outside power, heated, folding mirrors; deep tinted glass; electric rear window defogger; electrochromic inside rearview mirror; a leather-wrapped steering wheel; full carpeting; painted cast aluminum 16-inch wheels on two-wheel-drive and 17-inch polished cast aluminum on four-wheel-drive models; and four-wheel ABS disc brakes.
Four-wheel-drive models have a standard AutoTrac, superior to that of their nearest competitor in requiring no driver intervention to adjust between two- and four-wheel-drive traction requirements.
Silverado LS and Sierra SLE Crew Cabs offer six-way power bucket seats in either cloth or leather, and premium Bose sound is standard with the uplevel sound systems on either of these bucket seats. Silverado LT and SLT models have standard, segment-exclusive 10-way power leather, heated bucket seats and premium Bose sound. A rear-seat entertainment system, with DVD player, LDC display and wireless headphones is also available the Crew Cabs ($1,295).
Among their many other options, LS and SLE models offer the segment-exclusive safety and security of OnStar service ($695, standard on LT and SLT models); an upgrade to the exclusive XM Satellite Radio package (continental U.S. only, $325 all models); and a locking rear differential ($295 on all models, except Chevrolet's Z71 where it is standard). The locking rear differential provides better traction to all four wheels under certain operating conditions than competitors' limited slip differential.
Half-ton Crew Cabs go into production at General Motors' Oshawa, Ontario, Canada plant in January 2004.
