ArvinMeritor Roof Module Receives 2003 Grand Award From the Society of Plastics Engineers
TROY, Mich., Dec. 22, 2003 -- ArvinMeritor, Inc. announced today that the company's Light Vehicle Systems (LVS) business group -- with its customer DaimlerChrysler AG and supplier GE Plastics Automotive -- was awarded the 2003 Grand Award by the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) for its passenger vehicle roof module produced for the smart(TM) roadster. The awards were presented at the 33rd Annual SPE International Innovation Awards Program held in Livonia, Mich. on Nov. 17, 2003.

The ArvinMeritor roof module, which also received the SPE 2003 Automotive Division Innovations Award for Body Exterior Innovation, is designed, engineered and manufactured for smart GmbH at the company's Light Vehicle System's Gifhorn, Germany facility. It has been an original Smart car technology since the vehicle's market entry in 1998.
