Edmunds.com Names Two Sound Systems Among Top Ten In Cars Under $30,000

DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 18, 2003 -- Two audio systems engineered and produced by Visteon Corporation , those on the Ford Focus and the Ford Mustang GT, were cited among Edmunds.com's "Top 10 Sound Systems in Cars Under $30,000 for 2004."

Staff members of Edmunds.com , (www.edmunds.com ) the online car buying guide, tested more than 100 vehicles. The Top 10 Sound Systems represents "what we believe are the best of what we've driven," said John DiPietro, who wrote the summaries of what made each of the best sound systems stand out.

Visteon distributors and Ford dealers offer the Ford-authorized MACH 460 and MACH 1000 audio systems on 1994 to 2003 model year Mustangs. Both are high performance audio systems that combine award-winning sound quality with powerful volume.

The MACH 460 offers 230 watts of continuous average power and 460 watts of peak power through four 5.5 by 7.5-inch subwoofers, two subwoofer amplifiers and four 2.5-inch mid-range tweeters.

"Whether you're a fan of AC/DC or Linkin Park, you'll want to check out the MACH 460 system in the Mustang," DiPietro wrote.

The MACH 1000 builds on the MACH 460 system with four additional MACH MA185 subwoofer amplifiers and two additional MACH 10-inch subwoofers in integral 14-liter sealed enclosures mounted in the trunk. This system brings Mustang audio enthusiasts 570 watts of continuous average power and 1,140 watts of peak power. Both work with existing factory head units.

Beginning in 2002, Visteon has supplied its MACH(R) Audio System on the limited edition, 2002 Ford Focus ZTS sedan. The factory-installed CD-6 sound system pumps nearly 500 watts of power, specifically equalized to the Focus interior with Visteon's proprietary MACH DSP EQ tool -- creating sound clarity and richness rivaling an in-home entertainment system.
