ProQuest Automotive and General Motors Europe Sign Electronic Parts Catalog Agreement
ProQuest to Provide an Electronic Parts Catalog for Use in More Than 80 Countries
RICHFIELD, Ohio, Dec. 16 -- The ProQuest Automotive business unit of ProQuest Business Solutions, a segment of ProQuest Company , has been selected by General Motors Europe (GME) as the provider of their new electronic parts system. This agreement will provide an electronic parts catalog (EPC) application for use in over 80 countries worldwide, and forms the platform to support GM's long term vision of a global EPC product.
After more than a year of proposals and discussions, ProQuest has been chosen out of over a dozen candidates as the provider of choice by GME for what some have called the "EPC tender of the year."
"We are delighted to have been selected as the provider for parts information solutions for GME dealers worldwide. ProQuest has been the leading provider of electronic parts catalogues since 1985 and has been providing information solutions for GM since that time. By taking this step, together we are continuing to build on a very long and successful relationship between our two companies," said Andy Wyszkowski, President, ProQuest Business Solutions.
The ProQuest EPC for GME will initially contain parts information for GME passenger cars. Several versions of the application will be made available to GME-authorized repairers including client-server, Internet and intranet-based versions. Both the online and offline versions will provide a number of critical features that will enable the users to be more effective and timely in the handling of customer inquiries.
An example of such a feature is the availability of full integration between the EPC and dealer management systems (DMS). Such information as inventory levels, stock locations and parts pricing can now be accessed directly from the EPC, eliminating the need to switch between the two business systems. In addition, the new product will offer an all-new, easy-to-navigate graphical user interface that adapts to the unique workflow and frequent interruptions found in automotive dealerships.
ProQuest Automotive is the leading provider of collaborative business solutions for vehicle manufacturers and their dealer bases. Their proven success with industry-leading companies and their demonstrated ability to streamline processes, improve productivity and increase profits has made ProQuest the leader in electronic information systems within automotive parts and service departments across the globe. The ProQuest line of EPCs enables more than 100,000 parts technicians at 35,000 automotive dealerships around the world to quickly access accurate original equipment parts information needed to service their customers' vehicles. The company offers the broadest range of EPC systems available, serving 32 brands from 20 different automakers in 17 languages.
