Trafficmaster Expands Services With O2

CRANFIELD, England, December 11 -- Trafficmaster, the UK's leading journey management company, has announced that it is extending its long-standing relationship with O2, the UK based mobile network operator. The partnership, which commenced in 1997 has been extended a further five years and will see the two companies working closely together, not only to develop existing services, but to also introduce a range of new services that take advantage of opportunities presented by GPRS and 3G mobile technology.

Currently Trafficmaster provides traffic information to support O2's TrafficLine service, a real-time location specific traffic information service that can be accessed by dialling 1200 on the O2 network. The service uses data collated from 7,500 Trafficmaster roadside sensors to deliver location based traffic reports on Britain's motorways and trunk roads and is one of the most popular and frequently used information services on the O2 network.

Under the new agreement Trafficmaster and O2 will also work together to launch a range of new services that include a graphic version of the TrafficLine service, available on the XDA hand held PDA and other advanced specification mobile devices, as well as enhancing O2's online services, so customers can access real-time traffic alert information via its website.
