WaveCrest Laboratories Opens New Detroit Area Office

Rochester Hills Facility Enables Closer Ties to Automotive Industry

DETROIT, Dec. 5 -- WaveCrest Laboratories, a leading-edge technology company specializing in electric propulsion systems, today announced the opening of its new Detroit area office in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The office will house WaveCrest's vehicle systems group, which is dedicated to the development of WaveCrest's breakthrough electric propulsion system for automotive applications.

The new office is WaveCrest's second corporate location. The company's headquarters are located near Washington, D.C.

The WaveCrest system, which consists of an electric Adaptive Motor(R) system, customizable controls and advanced battery technology, can improve performance and efficiency for a wide range of vehicles, including hybrid and fuel cell automobiles. WaveCrest recently unveiled a prototype automobile driven by the system, which is now on display in the Rochester Hills facility. The system also powers WaveCrest's first commercially available product application, the TidalForce M-750 electric bicycle.

"This new office demonstrates WaveCrest's commitment to the automotive industry and will help to broaden the reach of our technology into the automotive sector," said Richard Schaum, vice president and general manager of vehicle systems for WaveCrest Laboratories. "We look forward to working with Tier 1 automotive suppliers and manufacturers to demonstrate how the WaveCrest Adaptive Motor system can fit with their vision for future vehicle designs."

In addition to acceleration, the motor can provide system functions such as braking and steering, thus eliminating many heavy and complex mechanical components. Because of the motor's tremendous low-speed torque and high response time, it can be used to replace costly advanced vehicle systems such as anti-lock braking, traction control and vehicle stability systems. Merging all these functions can lead to a smaller, lighter and less expensive vehicle.

WaveCrest's Detroit area office is located at 1613 Star Batt Drive, Rochester Hills, Michigan, 48309. The telephone number is 248-606-0600 and fax is 248-606-0601.
