LEV Transforms Racing Transporters with Customizable Features; Collaboration Tweaks the Traditional Trailer to Meet the Needs of Racers at All Levels

INDIANAPOLIS--Dec. 4, 2003--Racing teams now have a built-to-order alternative to the traditional racing trailer thanks to an industry innovation unveiled Thursday. The Low Entry Vehicle (LEV) combines the truck and transport trailer with additional customizable space offering unparalleled convenience and maneuverability to the racing community.

Each LEV is manufactured to the customer's specification. Inside the LEV, teams could include a tool shop, a team lounge, a hospitality suite or even living quarters. Outside, the vehicle can range in both height and length. The low-floor design of the shell means more cubic feet inside, and the technology of the LEV's front-wheel drive system allows for easy maneuvering for even the novice operator.

"Never before has this kind of customization been available in a compact unit," said Bruce Hanusosky, President of High Tech Performance Trailers, the lead designer of the LEV. "Each team decides its own set-up. The LEV is the answer for teams with special needs."

The LEV is a collaborative effort between Kentucky Trailer, Marmon-Herrington and High Tech Performance Trailers. Leaders in their respective crafts, the companies recognized a niche in the racing industry and joined forces. Kentucky Trailer builds the low-floor shell of the unit. Marmon-Herrington attaches the trailer shell to a truck cab and converts the unit front-wheel drive. High Tech Performance Trailers configures the custom features making the LEV transport-ready and adds the exterior finishing touches.

"This project has been a lot of fun for us," said Larry Hartog, President of Kentucky Trailer. "Building customized units is nothing new, that is what we do everyday. Using that same custom manufacturing process allows us to keep the LEV an affordable option for the market."

Marmon-Herrington's General Manager Tyler Bean agreed. "We jumped at the chance to be a part of this collaboration. The LEV is a perfect match for our proven front-wheel drive conversion system."
