New Bluestone Engineered Composite from 3D Systems Provides Exceptional Stiffness and Strength
VALENCIA, Calif.--Dec. 3, 2003--SL Product Suitable for Wind Tunnel Models, Electronic Enclosures and Assemblies for Aerospace |
3D Systems Corp. will introduce the new Bluestone(TM) SL product for its stereolithography (SLA(R)) systems in 2004. The Bluestone SL product, which is based on a newly developed technology, will be the first in a class of engineered composite products that provide exceptional stiffness and strength rendering parts suitable for a range of high-performance applications, including wind tunnel models, such as those used routinely in F1 Race Car development, electronic enclosures, and stiff assemblies for aerospace components.
The Bluestone product is engineered to maximize performance with 3D Systems' SLA systems. The advanced formulation has virtually eliminated the settling and separation issues experienced with competitive materials, which allows it to be processed much like existing 3D Systems' products.
The Bluestone product also provides good thermal resistance allowing for higher temperature use compared to conventional materials available today.
The Bluestone product will be made available initially on the SLA 7000 system in early 2004, followed by availability on other solid state systems.
Preliminary samples of Bluestone SL material will be on display at the 3D Systems booth during EUROMOLD, 3 December through 6 December, 2003, Hall 8.0, booth G70/F71.
About 3D Systems
Founded in 1986, 3D Systems(R), the solid imaging company(SM), provides solid imaging products and systems solutions that reduce the time and cost of designing products and facilitate direct and indirect manufacturing. Its systems utilize patented proprietary technologies to create physical objects from digital input that can be used in design communication, prototyping, and as functional end-use parts.
3D Systems offers a wide range of design and imaging communication, rapid prototyping and on demand manufacturing systems including the MJM product line (InVision 3-D printer and ThermoJet(R) solid object printer), SLA(R) (stereolithography) systems, SLS(R) (selective laser sintering) systems, and Accura(R) materials (including photopolymers, metals, nylons, engineering plastics, and thermoplastics).
