Insurance Company Honors Hampton Roads Troops

There won't be any performances by top-40 recording artists or celebrity appearances on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, but military personnel from area bases will still get a treat. GEICO will be hosting its fourth annual Military Appreciation Day at the Officers' Restaurant on the Damn Neck Base to honor 200 men and women from Hampton Roads who devote each day to serving the nation.

"GEICO admires the commitment and drive of our military -- especially during these times," said GEICO vice president & manager of the Virginia Beach office, Joe Thomas. "Military Appreciation Day is our way of saying 'Thank you.'"

The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. during which military personnel will enjoy a GEICO-provided lunch and receive certificates of appreciation, gecko pins and GEICO coins. Personnel from military bases all over Hampton Roads will be attending.
