AOL for Broadband Races Into Lead Sponsor Position of NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience

Narrator Kiefer Sutherland toplines the IMAX(R) film slated for March 12, 2004

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1 -- Warner Bros. Pictures, IMAX Corporation , the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR), and America Online, Inc. announced today that the upcoming IMAX(R) 3D film, NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience, will be sponsored by AOL(R) for Broadband, the first online service specifically designed to work with and enhance any basic high-speed cable or DSL connection to give consumers a more complete broadband experience. The highly anticipated film profiles America's most popular spectator sport, and features Kiefer Sutherland as the voice of the film.

NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience will have IMAX movie-goers and NASCAR fans on the edge of their seats as they experience speeds of more than 200 miles per hour. The heart-pounding thrills of NASCAR will be captured through IMAX 3D technology and are brought to life on screens up to eight stories tall, with 12,000 watts of pure digital surround sound. Principal photography was completed in Summer 2003 with the film scheduled to be released exclusively to IMAX(R) Theatres by Warner Bros. Pictures and IMAX Corporation starting March 12, 2004.

AOL's association with the film will expand upon the company's partnership with NASCAR and sponsorship of the Richard Childress Racing #30 NASCAR Winston Cup Series race car to help drive awareness of its AOL for Broadband service. AOL for Broadband is the best source for entertainment and information on the Internet, with programming and features that are exclusive only to AOL for Broadband members. AOL for Broadband's offerings include an unprecedented array of video and audio content from America's top five major professional sports leagues, as well as ongoing sneak previews and behind-the-scenes looks at today's most popular films -- making AOL for Broadband's sponsorship of NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience a natural fit.

As part of AOL for Broadband's sponsorship, both AOL and AOL for Broadband members will have an exclusive, up-close look at the film through advance on- demand access to the film's trailer beginning December 1st at AOL Keyword: Movies, as well as sneak previews, photos and other assets from the film. AOL for Broadband branding will also be included prominently in all marketing materials and includes logo exposure on screen, in the film's trailers and in all advertising for the film.

"A key factor in our decision to greenlight this picture was the positive impact it would have across numerous companies in the Time Warner family that are currently in business with NASCAR, while demonstrating the power of collaboration between Time Warner Brands," said Brad Ball, executive vice president, domestic corporate marketing, Warner Bros. Entertainment. "Among the leaders are AOL, an official NASCAR partner, and Turner Broadcasting, which is a broadcasting partner for NASCAR races and produces NASCAR.com, the official website of NASCAR. Having AOL for Broadband on board as the U.S. sponsor of NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience creates a natural collaboration that helps market the film while at the same time strategically promoting AOL's high speed broadband service."

"Our association with NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience will allow us to heighten awareness of AOL for Broadband and deliver exciting behind-the-scenes access to a fascinating NASCAR experience," said Richard Taylor, senior vice president of brand marketing, America Online, Inc. "By extending our strong relationship with NASCAR, we are able to put our members in the driver's seat with exclusive advance looks at photos, video and many more assets from the film that they can only get on AOL and AOL for Broadband."

"We're thrilled to have AOL for Broadband as a partner in NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience," said Paul Brooks, president of NASCAR Digital Entertainment. "Very few people will ever be able to experience what it is like to drive and compete at more than 200 miles per hour with the precision and skill that NASCAR drivers achieve every week. With NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience, we have been able to bring that thrill and excitement, along with a behind-the- scenes look at the science of the sport, directly to NASCAR and IMAX fans."

"AOL for Broadband and IMAX share a similar commitment to cutting-edge technology, and are natural partners for the film," stated Greg Foster, president of filmed entertainment for IMAX Corporation. "With state-of-the art IMAX 3D technology, audiences will experience NASCAR as never before. They will become a part of the action, work alongside the pit crew and experience America's fastest growing sport in only a way that IMAX can deliver."

About the Film

NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience will transport fans directly into the driver's seat to explore the world of today's elite NASCAR drivers and teams. Featuring rare behind-the-scenes glimpses, as well as gripping footage of the unpredictable action on the track, NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience will provide a close-up look at what motivates NASCAR drivers in and out of competition.
