Nissan Europe Appoints New Senior Vice President
PARIS, December 1 -- Dominique Thormann has been appointed Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration of Nissan Europe, replacing Hitoshi Kawaguchi, who returns to Nissan in Japan to take up a new position. The appointment becomes effective 1 December 2003.
In his new role, Dominique Thormann will be responsible for all Nissan Europe's Finance and Business Planning functions, as well as Human Resources, Legal Affairs, Communications and Administration. He will be a permanent member of Nissan's Management Committee Europe, which oversees all Nissan's European manufacturing, sales, and R&D operations. He will retain responsibilities for worldwide communications strategy as a member of the newly formed Global Communications and Investor Relations Steering Committee, chaired by Nissan's CEO.
Thormann (49) is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, Washington DC where he obtained an MA in International Relations.
In 1979, he joined the Chase Manhattan Bank where, over a period of 10 years, he held a succession of Treasury Department posts in New York, Rome, Milan and Paris.
In 1989, he joined Renault Credit International as Treasurer, before moving to the Investor Relations Department five years later.
In 1999, following the signing of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, Dominique moved to Nissan Motor Co., Ltd in Tokyo in charge of Investor Relations. In May 2002, he was appointed Vice President of Global Communications and Investor Relations.
Dominique Thormann will be based at Nissan Europe's headquarters in Trappes, near Paris.
