Pop-Up Flashing Cones Inc. Presents New Traffic Flare Designed to Replace Incendiary Type

GARDEN GROVE, Calif.--Nov. 2, 20036, 2003--A new-generation, battery-powered traffic flare designed to replace the conventional incendiary flare used at night by police and fire departments has been developed by Pop-Up Flashing Cones Inc., according to Michael Leake, president of the Garden-Grove-based company.

The innovative device called "Nite Flare," measures 5 inches in diameter by 1 1/4 inches deep, and a group of 12 in a cluster at night effectively replace the commonly-used 30-minute burning flares.

The units flash a warning light visible from greater distances than the conventional burning flares.

"Since Nite Flare is reusable indefinitely, we can put a stop to the tens of millions of taxpayer dollars that go up in smoke every night over the years from the use and cleanup of incendiary flares all over the country," Leake said.

Pop-Up Flashing Cones Inc. also offers a traffic cone which stores in a sturdy 2 1/2-inch by one-square-foot base and telescopes by a gentle tug to a full 28 inches high. Each cone is equipped with a battery-powered flashing light unit. Four of the cones can be stacked in a soft carrying case -- taking up only one cubic foot of space -- and conveniently stored in the trunk of a police or fire department vehicle.

Nite Flare and Pop-Up Cones are marketed in both the governmental and private sectors. The products can be viewed on a 5-minute film at the company's Web site: www.pop-upflashingcones.com.
