PENNDOT Holds Emissions Open House for News Media Representatives

On Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at 10 a.m., PENNDOT will hold an open house for representatives of the media featuring Pennsylvania's Vehicle Emissions Inspection & Maintenance Program for the Southcentral Region. The open house will take place at Zimmerman's Automotive Service Inc., 2234 S. Market Street, Mechanicsburg.

The event kicks off the Dec. 1 implementation of emissions inspections for Dauphin and Cumberland counties.

The Southcentral Region will phase in emissions inspections according to the following schedule: Dec. 1, 2003, in Dauphin and Cumberland counties, Jan. 1, 2004, for Berks, Lehigh and Northampton counties; and Feb. 1, 2004, for Lancaster, Lebanon and York counties.

A certified emissions technician will give a demonstration of Onboard Diagnostic (OBD), gas cap and visual anti-tampering inspections. Program materials will also be distributed.
