Dodge Delivers Two 2004 Durangos to Citymeals-On-Wheels
* The All-New Sport-Utility Vehicle Will Be Used to Deliver Thousands of Thanksgiving Meals to New York's Homebound Seniors * Celebrity Couple Angie Harmon and Jason Sehorn Hands Over the Keys and Helps Haul the Turkeys This Thanksgiving
NEW YORK, Nov. 25 -- Kicking off the holiday season, Dodge today announced a donation of two all-new 2004 Durango sport-utility vehicles to Citymeals-on-Wheels to help make food deliveries to New York's homebound seniors a little easier.
Jason Sehorn, a former New York Giant now with the St. Louis Rams, and his wife, model and actress Angie Harmon, were on hand at the Burden Center for the Aging in Manhattan to deliver the Durangos to Citymeals-on-Wheels officials and help load the vehicles for Thanksgiving Day meal deliveries.
"This is such a great way to express the giving spirit of the holidays," said Angie. "Jason and I are really happy to be a part of this event."
Not only is Dodge donating two vehicles, but it is also giving Citymeals- on-Wheels $27,500 to cover the expenses for half of the food items that will be delivered to about 17,000 seniors New Yorkers this Thanksgiving.
"As a company that believes in giving back to the community, DaimlerChrysler's Dodge brand is pleased to partner with Citymeals-on-Wheels to make this Thanksgiving a little brighter for thousands of people," said Joe Eberhardt, Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing, DaimlerChrysler Corporation. "Citymeals-on-Wheels is an organization that, like Dodge, believes in grabbing life by the horns. The all-new Durango, with its big size and smooth ride, will make life a little easier for the volunteers and those they service."
The 2004 Dodge Durango is seven inches longer, three inches taller and three inches wider than the previous model, providing enough room to hold up to 200 meals at one time. In addition, the vehicle's improved fuel efficiency will allow workers to deliver a day's worth of meals on just one tank of gas.
"As an organization that's dependent on reliable transportation, this vehicle donation from Dodge is truly a blessing," said Maryanne Greenfield, Director of Development, Citymeals-on-Wheels. "The Durangos will help make meal deliveries more efficient for workers at our Manhattan and Brooklyn centers."
The first Dodge Durango will go to the Burden Center for the Aging on Manhattan's Upper East Side, where project workers are delivering 100 meals a day within a 15-block radius on foot because they have no transportation.
The second Dodge Durango will be donated to Wartburg Lutheran Mobile Meals workers in Brooklyn who deliver 500 meals a day. The new Durango will replace an aging and unreliable cargo van.
