Taiyo Yuden Releases RF Component Library for Ansoft Designer v1.1
PITTSBURGH--Nov. 2, 20030, 2003--Free device models for advanced high-density surface-mount components provide accurate electrical responses and mechanical layout features for manufacturing |
Ansoft Corporation today announced the release of a new device library for Ansoft Designer(TM) based on Taiyo Yuden(R) high-density miniaturized surface-mount components.
The component library, free to Ansoft Designer customers, will help engineers designing electronic equipment, such as Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), car navigation systems, base stations and cellular handsets, by providing accurate electrical responses and mechanical layout features for manufacturing.
"Taiyo Yuden is a leading manufacturer and supplier of high-frequency modules and passive components and is excited to offer its S-parameter and RF component library to strengthen its support of design engineers utilizing the Ansoft Designer software," said Mr. Yukihiro Kawada, Ph.D., Senior Operating Officer, Wireless Information Network Group, Taiyo Yuden.
The library consists of three principle passive surface-mount components: capacitors, ferrite beads and multi-layer inductors. The new capacitor library features components that offer excellent Q values over 1GHz. The small 0402 case size and tight dimension tolerances are excellent for high-density mounting. These parts are used in high-frequency portable communication applications where high Q values and small size are needed.
The new library also includes the HK Series of High Q-value multi-layer chip inductors, which is the de facto standard occupying a worldwide market share of 50 percent. These inductors reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI), increase battery life and improve overall efficiency in cell phones, pagers, notebook PCs and other products employing high-frequency circuits.
The components in the new library offer distinctive features for enhanced accuracy and simulation speed. Each component utilizes S-parameter data based on Taiyo Yuden's advanced characterization lab for greater accuracy and fewer prototype cycles. Additionally, each component can be represented by a frequency-dependent equivalent circuit for a 4x speedup in simulation time simply by toggling the component's model attribute.
The library is available from Taiyo Yuden's Web site (www.t-yuden.com/simtools/index.cfm) and is easily downloaded and configured for use within Ansoft Designer. This site provides Ansoft Designer users with the ability to search for components by name, performance data or other specification. Taiyo Yuden will maintain model support and upgrades, while Ansoft will address all customer support for Ansoft Designer.
