ECD Ovonics Announces Departure of President And Chief Operating Officer of Ovonic Battery Subsidiary

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., Nov. 20, 2003 -- Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD Ovonics) announced today that the president and chief operating officer of Ovonic Battery Company, Inc., Subhash K. Dhar, has departed ECD Ovonics to pursue other interests, and has vacated his position as president and chief operating officer of Ovonic Battery. Mrs. Meera Vijan, Vice President of Manufacturing at Ovonic Battery, will act as the interim president.

Commenting on Mr. Dhar's departure, Stanford R. Ovshinsky, President and CEO of ECD Ovonics, and Robert C. Stempel, Chairman of ECD Ovonics, said, "During his long tenure with ECD Ovonics, Subhash has made many significant contributions to important areas of the Company. He played a key role in the development and commercialization of our Ovonic(R) nickel-metal hydride battery for both consumer and automotive applications, and had a leading role in the development of the Ovonic(R) regenerative fuel cell technology. We appreciate his outstanding contributions and wish him well in his next endeavors."
