ECD Ovonics Confirms New Auditors to Require More Time For First Quarter Review

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., Nov. 19, 2003 -- Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD Ovonics) today confirmed that Grant Thornton LLP, its new independent auditors, will require additional time to complete the review of the Company's Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the period ended September 30, 2003. The Company previously announced that it expected Grant Thornton, which was appointed on November 14, 2003, would require additional time for the review.

The Company filed a Form 12b-25, Notification of Late Filing, with the Securities and Exchange Commission on November 14, 2003, which extended the due date for a period of five calendar days.

ECD Ovonics will host a conference call shortly after it files its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q. Details regarding the conference call will be announced.
