AMI DODUCO Exhibits Electronics Production Technologies at Productronica Fair in Munich

PFORZHEIM, Germany--Nov. 1, 20039, 2003--AMI DODUCO, a Technitrol Company, demonstrated its complete range of contact technology, electronic coating materials and services and refining capabilities at the Productronica electronics exhibition, held this month in Munich.

The highlight of the exhibit was a presentation of DODUCHEM(R), the first lead-free electroless nickel-gold process for coating printed circuit boards (PCBs). "This process will meet the growing need for lead-free components in a wide variety of electronic devices and will help our customers meet legal requirements to eliminate lead from their products," said Karl-Heinz Funke, Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing at AMI DODUCO.

AMI DODUCO offers electronics manufacturers a full range of coating and electroplating materials and processes for PCB production, using gold, silver, tin, rhodium and palladium. It also offers a variety of plated products, along with precious metal recovery and refining services.

Both DODUCHEM(R) and immersion tin treatment DODUSTAN(R) provide more precise and complete coatings at much lower temperatures than traditional hot air solder leveling. As a result, PCB manufacturers can design much smaller circuitry and continue reducing the size of portable electronic equipment such as wireless handheld devices and laptop computers. In addition, because these treatments eliminate lead from the coating process, they are better for the environment and more resistant to oxidation than traditional processes.

The biannual Productronica is Europe's largest showcase for equipment, materials, and other products for the manufacturing and quality control of electronic devices. Electronics manufacturers from around the world were in attendance.

"Attending this exhibition has become critical to the decision making process for our customers and potential customers in the electronics industry who serve the telecommunications, construction, automotive market segments," said Funke. "We welcome this opportunity to demonstrate the value AMI DODUCO can bring to their operations."

Headquartered in Export, Pennsylvania, AMI DODUCO is a global leader in electrical contact technology and fabrication. The company supplies contacts and assemblies, contact materials, thermostatic and laminated metal products, electroplating and surface treatment services, and precious metal refining and recycling to more than 3,000 customers. AMI DODUCO operates from locations in North America, Europe and Asia. The company's website is www.amidoduco.com.
