* DaimlerChrysler Services Donates $5,000 to Junior Achievement in the Fort Worth Area * Eight Hundred Elementary Students Benefit * Company Employees Volunteer Financial and Entrepreneurial Knowledge
WESTLAKE, Texas, Nov. 18 -- DaimlerChrysler Services North America announced today a $5,000 donation to the Junior Achievement of the Chisholm Trail in Fort Worth, Texas, by its Customer Contact Center in Dallas.
More than 800 Keller ISD elementary students will benefit from the donation at Lone Star and Keller-Harvel Elementary Schools during the 2003- 2004 school year. This donation, in conjunction with the Dallas Customer Contact Center employees' involvement, will encourage young students to look at challenges in an entrepreneurial manner and to value the free enterprise system.
"We are truly committed to this initiative where our employees can serve as mentors and role models for students," said Janet Marzett, Senior Manager - Dallas Customer Contact Center. "In doing so, we hope to provide them with a competitive advantage in their current academic pursuits and future leadership positions."
This specific program, sponsored by DaimlerChrysler Services, supports local elementary students by teaching them economic and business skills as well as helping them to develop their personal finance knowledge, which is important in today's work environment. Through activities that Junior Achievement provides, different skills will be taught from kindergarten through fifth grade and are complemented by volunteer information. Volunteers will spend one hour a week for five weeks working with a classroom of students.
"Our classroom volunteers make financial concepts relevant by sharing first-hand experience with the children in our community," said Don Porter, Senior Manager - Remarketing, Dallas Customer Contact Center. "As a premier financial services provider, it is our commitment to educate people about financial concepts in the communities where we live and work."
DaimlerChrysler Services' Dallas Customer Contact Center was the second largest provider of volunteers for Junior Achievement in the Fort Worth area for the 2002-2003 school-year. DaimlerChrysler Services' volunteers have led 71 Junior Achievement programs reaching more than 1,500 students. In addition, 55 DaimlerChrysler Services employees participated in the Junior Achievement Bowl-a-thon raising more than $6,900 in support of the expansion of Junior Achievement's programs for the year.
