ECD Ovonics Closes Additional Unit Sale for $2.8 Million

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., Nov. 14, 2003 -- Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD Ovonics) today announced that it closed the additional sale for $2,868,240 of 304,000 units of its securities at a price per unit of $9.435. Each unit consists of one share of ECD Common Stock and one warrant to purchase one share of ECD Common Stock for $13.96 if exercised on or prior to May 2, 2005, and for $16.03 if exercised at any time thereafter, but prior to October 31, 2006.

ECD Ovonics will file a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission to enable the resale of the shares issued and the shares issuable upon exercise of the warrants. This sale is in addition to the sale of $25 million of ECD Ovonics' securities previously announced on November 7, 2003 to one of the three major institutional investors who previously purchased securities. The other two major institutional investors have entered into additional investment right agreements whereby the investors are entitled to purchase up to an additional 573,339 units for $10.465 per unit until January 15, 2004 and have paid ECD Ovonics $.125 for each share issuable upon the exercise of the additional investment right ($71,667.38). Nolan Securities Corporation acted as placement agent.
