New Model Library for Alternative Power System Design
PITTSBURGH--Nov. 1, 20033, 2003--Ansoft Corporation , in cooperation with the Institute of Solar Energy Technology (ISET), has released a new model library to help engineers design and optimize alternative and hybrid energy systems.ISET, a leading German research institution in the field of alternative power, developed the model library to enhance the use of SIMPLORER, Ansoft's multi-domain system simulation software, in the design of commercial alternative energy systems. The library significantly reduces engineering costs and improves overall system performance.
"We have successfully used SIMPLORER for several years in the design of power applications. ISET's expertise in the design of highly efficient conventional and alternative power systems is now available in a compact, fast and easy-to-use library for SIMPLORER," said Peter Caselitz, Head of the Energy Conversion and Control Engineering Division at ISET. "We are excited about this collaborative effort and the opportunity to make our design knowledge available to a broad range of engineers worldwide."
The library includes:
-- Generators - photovoltaic modules, wind energy converters, fuel cells and combustion generator sets
-- Loads - electrical machines, pumps and electrolysers for electrochemical hydrogen production
-- Storages - battery systems, super-capacitors, flywheel storages and pressurized gas bottles
-- Energy conditioning units - inverters, DC/DC converters and battery charge regulators
About ISET
Founded in 1988, the Institute of Solar Energy Technology (ISET) is engaged in application-oriented research and development of renewable energies and decentralized energy-supply technology. With locations in Kassel and Hanau, Germany, ISET specializes in electrical engineering and systems technology, focusing on the areas of wind energy, hydropower, photovoltaics, electrochemical storages and the use of biomass for energy production.
