Timken Honored as Oldest Charter Member of MEMA

CANTON, Ohio, Nov. 12, 2003 -- The Timken Company was honored as the oldest charter member of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association during its 100th anniversary celebration November 3, at the MEMA and Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association executive reception in Las Vegas, NV.

"We're honored by this distinction of being the only company out of seven charter members that maintained membership for 100 years. Timken has depended on MEMA membership to provide valuable industry insights, including government affairs," said W. J. Timken, Jr., vice president - office of the chairman, as he accepted the award.

MEMA ( www.mema.org ) was founded in 1904 as the nation's first motor vehicle parts suppliers association. The organization exclusively serves the aftermarket and original equipment automotive and heavy-duty manufacturing industry.
