American Axle & Manufacturing Announces New Driveline Systems Contract

DETROIT, Nov. 12, 2003 -- American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings, Inc. (AAM), which is traded as AXL on the NYSE, today announced that it has secured a new driveline systems contract. The contract includes front and rear axles, driveshafts and TracRite(R) differentials. The contract value is estimated at approximately $30 million annually for vehicles that will launch in model year 2005. This contract supports AMM's efforts to further diversify its customer base and product portfolio.

The driveline system front axle features an AAM TracRite EL2 differential and the rear axle features an AAM TracRite GTL limited slip differential. Both TracRite differentials include electronic locking features and engagement sensors.

"We have been developing a new line of AAM TracRite differentials with electronic features over the past two years, and this contract represents the first application of electronic differentials in a vehicle," says President & Chief Operating Officer Joel D. Robinson.

AAM is a world leader in the manufacture, design, engineering, and validation of driveline systems and related components and modules, chassis systems and forged products for trucks, sport utility vehicles and passenger cars. In addition to its 14 locations in the United States (in Michigan, New York and Ohio), AAM also has offices and facilities in Brazil, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Scotland.
