ZAP CEO Says Electric Cars Bridge Gap to Hydrogen Infrastructure on WallSt.net

SANTA ROSA, Calif., Nov. 11, 2003 -- Battery-powered cars are available today and can help drive the world towards a hydrogen fuel economy, says Steve Schneider, CEO for ZAP

Government and industry are discussing new energy policies to help boost fuel economy that would convert America's transportation fueling infrastructure from fossil fuels to hydrogen. Experts tout hydrogen-powered cars because the only emissions would be water vapor and oxygen, but say the infrastructure could be a decade or more away. Schneider says consumers can help this happen sooner by investing in today's battery-electric technologies.

Later this week ZAP plans to showcase its new ZAP WORLDCAR(TM) alongside prototype hydrogen fuel cell automobiles from the likes of Ford, General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, Honda, Toyota, Mercedes, Volvo, BMW, and others at the 20th International Electric Vehicle Symposium (http://www.evs20.org/ ), November 15-19 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California. Schneider says that both types of cars use electric drive technologies, which can be fueled with a variety of energy sources, from batteries, to hybrid gasoline generators, and hydrogen fuel cells. He says today's ZAP cars can "bridge the gap" to new transportation technologies available in the future because they will rely on electronic propulsion systems.

ZAP will be showing its new WORLDCAR(TM) for the first time at EVS, the largest industry event for advanced transportation technologies in the world. ZAP believes its new car is the only production electric car available for under $10,000. The company also believes this is the first production automobile ever imported from China for sale in North America. The publicly owned company is working to establish a ZAP Auto Dealer Network and has licensed to distribute production vehicles to the independent auto dealer market from several manufacturers of battery-electric technologies in North America, Asia and Europe.

EVS-20 will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, November 15-16. For hours and ticket information, visit http://www.evs20.org/ . To purchase a ZAPCAR(TM), visit http://www.zapworld.com/ or call 707-525-8658.
