LINCOLN, Neb.--Nov. 1, 20030, 2003--Centurion Wireless Technologies, Inc., the leading designer and manufacturer of antennas and power products for wireless communications, today unveiled the Centurion GPS(TM) antenna for telematics applications. Specially designed to provide high gain Global Positioning System (GPS) coverage for commercial and consumer vehicle tracking applications, the Centurion GPS is available in the automotive aftermarket and to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).The location-based services market is projected to reach $8 billion by 2008. Centurion's GPS antenna seamlessly supports commercial and consumer location-based telematics applications including automatic vehicle location (AVL), in-vehicle navigation, security, wireless dispatching and asset and vehicle recovery.
"Telematics applications today are experiencing greater consumer and commercial adoption, and vehicle tracking is among the applications with the highest demand," said Monty Rohde, Sr. Vice President of Engineering for Centurion. "The Centurion GPS offers OEM's and the aftermarket a solution for GPS systems that is easy to install on any type of vehicle."
The Centurion GPS is a low profile antenna with a compact, sleek form factor and a durable black PC+ABS housing. The antenna is specially designed for easy installation onto both the interior and exterior of the vehicle. It is available with either a standard or strong magnetic mounting application for installation onto a metallic surface of the vehicle, and two-sided stick tape for mounting onto a non-metallic surface. For rigorous applications, the strong magnet mount offers greater pull force over the standard mounting options.
To provide the high quality coverage necessary for most automotive applications, the Centurion GPS contains a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) to boost the gain of the antenna to an Active 26 dBi with a low noise figure of 2.0 dB. The antenna is available in 3 or 5-volt configurations, standard or strong magnet versions, and operates at GPS 1575.42 MHz. It measures 54.4 x 44 x 14.5 mm (standard magnet) or 15.5 mm (strong magnet) with a 3 meter black RG-174 coaxial cable and an SMA Male connector.
Centurion is QS9000 certified, guaranteeing that its vehicular antennas have been judged by the automotive industry to be the highest quality in design, materials, production and performance.
