Mopar Pro Stock Wrap Up

POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2003) Mopar concluded the 2003 NHRA POWERade Drag
Racing Series season with today¹s Automobile Club of Southern California
NHRA Nationals at Pomona Raceway.

Mopar¹s Gene Wilson finished his season in the first round, losing to Warren
Johnson after shutting off early. The 2002 NHRA rookie of the year cut a
.009 of a second light, but it wasn¹t enough.

³It¹s not the end to the season that we wanted,² Wilson said. ³I think we
ended the with a pretty good race car. The right lane had been giving
everyone problems all weekend, and unfortunately we lost lane choice by two
tenths of a mile and hour. We matched him in elapsed time during qualifying.
That lane choice got us there in the end.²

A close one in round one ended Larry Morgan¹s day in round one. The Mopar
Pro Stock veteran made the second-quickest run in the right lane at 6.796
seconds and 203.98 mph, but it wasn¹t enough to overcome Mike Edward¹s
6.792-second elapsed time at 203.98 mph.

³We had a great second half of the season,² Morgan said. ³If we wouldn¹t
have made such a bad run on that last one, we might still be going right
now. We just blew the tires off of it in second gear, but we did make a
decent run for the right lane. It just wasn¹t our day. The guys on the team
worked so hard to help us have a great second half of the season.²

A first-round red light closed out Allen Johnson¹s 2003 NHRA season.
Johnson, who drives the Mopar Parts Dodge Stratus, fell to newly crowned Pro
Stock World Champion Greg Anderson.

³We have to be happy overall,² Johnson said. ³We started the year out really
well, but faltered a little bit toward the end. It will be the best finish
of my career in points. We have a great team and I have a great teammate in
Darrell Alderman. We have three months to revamp, find about 30 horsepower,
and make things better for next year.²
