Mitsubishi Motors Announces Pricing for 2004 Models

CYPRESS, Calif., Nov. 7, 2003 -- Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) today announced suggested retail pricing for the all-new 2004 Mitsubishi Galant mid-size sedan, the new 2004 Lancer Sportback and the revised 2004 Lancer compact sedan.

"The 2004 Galant enters the mid-size sedan segment ready to compete with the industry leaders in terms of performance, interior roominess and exterior styling," said Greg O'Neill, MMNA president and COO. "At a starting price of less than $18,000, the 2004 Mitsubishi Galant is synonymous with value."

The all-new 2004 Mitsubishi Galant offers more of everything: more interior room, a choice of two new, more powerful engine options and a comprehensive standard equipment list. And the Galant offers even more value, because despite its long list of improvements, its price has increased by less than one percent compared to last year's model. The all-new entry-level Galant DE carries a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $17,997.

For those who step up to the Galant ES, priced at $18,997, the reward is a list of upgrades which includes a six-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system; titanium-colored interior accent trim, cruise control, and color-keyed outer mirrors, body side moldings and door handles; as well as a long list of optional equipment that includes front side airbags. Both the Galant DE and ES provide an affordable entry into the family sedan category, and both come equipped with a 2.4-liter, SOHC 16-valve, four-cylinder MIVEC engine that provides 160 horsepower and 157 pound-feet of torque.

At a base price of $20,997, the Galant LS is packed with premium features, including the impressive 3.8-liter V6 engine that produces 230 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. The LS also features larger front ventilated disc brakes equipped with an antilock braking system (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and traction control.

Top-of-the-line GTS trim, at an MSRP of $25,697, is distinguished by unique headlamps, dark chrome tail lamps, integrated rear spoiler and 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels. Inside, the list of high-quality GTS enhancements continues with standard leather seating, giving the GTS luxury-sedan appeal for a family sedan price. All Galants feature a four-speed Sportronic(TM) transmission.

2004 MITSUBISHI LANCER

With a lower sticker price, the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan is all about value. The base price is $13,597 for the Lancer ES, or 3.2 percent lower than last year, without losing any of its content. Following the ES trim is the LS, which gains a sunroof this year while its price drops by $150. The LS, available only with an automatic transmission, has an MSRP of $15,997. The O-Z Rally(R) edition's base MSRP of $15,797 also is lower than last year. The new Lancer Ralliart starts at $17,997 with a manual and $18,797 with an automatic.

For 2004, the popular Lancer sedan has been enhanced with several styling and mechanical refinements, as well as a new trim level with the Lancer Ralliart. All 2004 Lancers feature a re-styled front fascia, including a new grille, integrated bumper and new swept halogen headlights. Mitsubishi's reliable 2.0-liter, SOHC, 16-valve four-cylinder engine still powers the LS, ES, and O-Z Rally(R) trims, but for the next level of performance, the new 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart comes equipped with a 2.4-liter, SOHC, four-cylinder engine that changes camshaft profiles to optimize engine performance across the rev range. This new, high-revving, higher-displacement engine improves efficiency, reduces emissions and increases output, developing 162 horsepower at 5750 rpm and 162 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm.

2004 MITSUBISHI LANCER SPORTBACK

As the latest sport wagon to hit the market, the 2004 Lancer Sportback adds another facet to the Mitsubishi Lancer family of compact cars. The Lancer Sportback LS is offered with a base MSRP of $16,597, and the Lancer Sportback Ralliart has an MSRP of $19,197.

Both the Sportback LS and the Sportback Ralliart feature 136 cubic feet of cargo space, and both are powered by a 160-horsepower 2.4-liter MIVEC engine. The Sportback LS features four-wheel disc brakes, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, and the versatility of a 60/40 split rear seat that also reclines to offer rear seat passengers a comfortable ride. The Sportback Ralliart adds a sport-tuned suspension, sport grille, ABS with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), front seat side airbags, sport bucket seats, and a six-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system.
