Nissan Europe Reports October Sales

TRAPPES, France, November 7 -- Nissan Europe reported total sales of 49,736 vehicles (1) in October 2003, an increase of 39.5% over the same month last year.

In the ten month period from January to October 2003, Nissan Europe sold 450,489 units, 12% up from last year.

HIGHLIGHTS BY COUNTRY

- Nissan in France sold 4,800 units in October, registering a 56% increase compared to last year. In the ten month period from January to October 2003, Nissan sold 37,731 units in France, up by 28.5% compared to last year.

- In Germany, Nissan sold 6,309 units in October, representing an increase of 49% compared to last year. In the ten month period from January to October 2003, Nissan sold 56,350 units in Germany, 9% up from last year.

- In Italy, Nissan sold 9,031 units in October, up 107% against last year. In the ten month period from January to October 2003, Nissan sales in Italy rose to 64,140 units, up by 29% compared to last year.

- Nissan in Spain sold 5,863 units in October, up 31% compared to last year. In the ten month period from January to October 2003, Nissan sales in Spain rose to 49,400 units up by 7.5% compared to last year.

- In the UK, Nissan sold 9,522 units, an increase of 20% compared to last year. In the ten month period from January to October 2003, Nissan's sales in the UK rose to 98,343 units, up 5% compared to last year.

MODEL HIGHLIGHTS

- The Micra was Nissan's best-selling European model with a total of 18,653 unit sales in October. In the ten month period from January to October 2003, total Micra sales reached 153,623 units, up by 68% compared to last year.

- X-TRAIL sales increased by 78.5% in October against the same month last year to 5,283 units. In the ten month period from January to October 2003, total

X-TRAIL sales reached 42,531 units, up by 45% compared to last year.

- Pickup sales increased by 3.5% in October against the same month last year to 3,346 units. In the ten month period from January to October 2003, total Pickup sales reached 32,067 units, up by 31% compared to last year

Nissan employs around 12,000 people in its European design, research and development, manufacturing, logistics, and sales and marketing operations. Last year, the company produced a total of 382,638 vehicles in its Spanish and British plants and sold 474,000 vehicles in Europe. Nissan Europe's Head Office is based in Trappes (Paris), France.
