Subaru Broadens Performance Parts Business -- Parts Sales Up 12%; Performance Parts Offering Triples In Size --

CHERRY HILL, N.J., Nov. 4, 2003 -- Subaru of America, Inc., the only car company that offers symmetrical all-wheel drive as standard equipment on every vehicle in its product line, today announced it has broadened its performance parts business as the Subaru Technica International (STI) and Subaru Performance Tuning (SPT) brand parts gain popularity among customers in the US market. The total sales year-to-date of Subaru Genuine Parts has increased by more than 12 percent, while the performance parts product line offering has tripled in size.

"Subaru delivered on its driving performance promise in a big way when WRX STi, Forester Turbo and Baja Turbo all charged onto the scene this year," said Robert LaBossiere, Vice President of Parts, Subaru of America, Inc. "Demand for such performance products also led to a demand for performance parts. To support this demand, Subaru nearly tripled the number of performance parts we offer and added a heavy mix of the very popular STI brand products."

Among the best-selling Subaru Performance Parts are:
-- SPT Cat-Back Performance Exhaust System that provides a throaty
exhaust note plus a sporty aggressive look.
-- STI Short Throw Shifter that significantly reduces shift throw
lengths for crisp shifts and sporty driving.
-- STI Performance Spring Set that lowers vehicle stance resulting in a
lower center of gravity, which enhances handling performance and
      responsiveness.
-- STI Turbo Boost Gauge that mounts conveniently to the side of the
      steering column.
-- SPT Performance Suspension Kit that provides optimal suspension
performance by enhancing the cornering, straight-line stability and
      overall handling for high-performance driving.

Several initiatives are now in place to support the increased customer demand for performance parts. While Subaru parts and accessories are available from all Subaru dealers, Subaru made a commitment to grow the number of authorized SPT Dealers that specialize in selling performance parts. By the end of this year, more than 50 authorized SPT Dealers will be in place across the country. Subaru also created a Web site (www.spt.subaru.com) to serve as an online storefront as well as a resource for customers looking for information on or to purchase performance parts for their Subaru.
