Sumitomo Electric Industries Launches Halogen-free Coaxial Cables for
Automobile Antennas Manufacturing in China



Tokyo, Japan, Nov. 04, 2003 - (JCN Newswire) - Sumitomo Electric
Industries, Ltd. (SEI; TSE: 5802) has launched the production of
halogen-free coaxial cables for automotive antenna application in China
in order to respond to demand from customers. Sumitomo Electric
Interconnect Products (Suzhou) Ltd., SEI's Chinese affiliate, will work
toward offering high-quality and price-competitive products in this
region.

SEI is globally expanding its business of electronic wires and cables
for home appliance and information equipment applications. In recent
years, as major electronic wire and cable customers such as home
appliance manufacturers and wiring harness manufacturers have shifted
their production to mainland China, SEI has expanded its production
capabilities in this region.

In addition, SEI has grown to meet the demand for environment-friendly
materials, such as halogen-free wire, which remains safe even when
burned.
