Quantum Leap Packaging Secures $3.5 Million in Series A Funding From Battery Ventures
WILMINGTON, Mass.--Nov. 3, 2003--Quantum Leap Packaging, developer of low-cost, high-performance liquid crystal polymer (LCP) packaging solutions for high-volume electronic and optical components, today announced that it has received $3.5 million in Series A financing from Battery Ventures. As part of the investment, Battery Venture's Morgan Jones has joined the company's Board of Directors. Quantum Leap will use the investment to support its product development, marketing and business development initiatives."Before making the investment in Quantum Leap, we spent a lot of time researching the packaging market. After all our research, it was clear that Quantum Leap was the leader in developing the next generation of packaging solutions for components manufacturers," said Morgan Jones, general partner of Battery Ventures. "The company has received extremely positive feedback from early-adopter customers and we look forward to working with the management team as it moves towards full-scale production."
Quantum Leap Packaging is revolutionizing the packaging industry with its low-cost LCP packages. The company's technology replaces expensive ceramic and metal packaging and provides significant advantages in thermal performance, electrical performance and precision. Quantum Leap's packaging solutions are designed for high-growth applications including RF transistors, image sensors, vision packages, MEMs devices, semiconductors and fiber optic modules.
"The assembly and packaging of components has become a key element of the manufacturing process. Manufacturers are not only seeking more efficient packages that can perform the traditional functions of the package - protecting, powering, and interconnecting - but want them at a lower cost and comparable or better performance," said Mike Zimmerman, Founder and CTO, Quantum Leap Packaging. "The investment from Battery will enable us to provide the industry with a packaging solution that provides the highest possible performance at a fraction of the cost."
