MBUSA Appoints Kurp as General Manager, Chicago Region And Gillman as General Manager, Vehicle Distribution and Logistics

MONTVALE, N.J., Oct. 30, 2003 -- Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) has announced the appointment of Joseph Kurp to general manager of the company's Chicago region, effective immediately. In his new position, Kurp will manage and direct regional staff and the sales and service field organization to support dealers in the Chicago region. Kurp will report to Keith May, vice president of sales for MBUSA.

  

Kurp brings over 26 years of automotive industry experience to the position. Since joining MBUSA in 1994 as a market manager in the New York Region, Kurp has served the company in a wide variety of roles, most recently as general manager, vehicle distribution and logistics at MBUSA's Montvale, N.J. headquarters. Kurp has also served as manager of retail training and curriculum development.

Prior to joining MBUSA, Kurp worked for Volkswagen of America in Auburn Hills, MI, for 17 years in such areas as sales and finance, dealer business and sales and production planning.

Kurp holds a Master of Arts degree from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Vincent College. He will be relocating with his wife, Lynne, and two children from New Jersey to the Chicago area.

Succeeding Kurp as general manager of vehicle distribution and logistics is Andrew Gillman. In this role, Gillman will be responsible for all areas of distribution, logistics, vehicle preparation centers and volume planning. Gillman will report to Keith May, vice president of sales at MBUSA headquarters.

Most recently, Gillman held the position of department manager, retail vehicle distribution in which he was responsible for maximizing wholesale and retail sales, developing strategic and operating plans and providing sales and inventory management.

Since joining MBUSA in 1989, Gillman held various positions including department manager, strategic volume planning; department manager, national inventory; and market manager and regional controller in the Washington D.C. region.

Gillman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting information systems from Pace University in White Plains, NY and lives in Rockland County, NY with his wife, Arlene, and three children.
