Oxford Automotive Silao Plant Awarded Safety Certificate From Mexican Federal Ministry of Labor
TROY, Mich., Oct. 29 -- Oxford Automotive, Inc.'s manufacturing plant in Silao, Mexico was awarded the Safe Industry Certificate from the Mexican Federal Ministry of Labor on Oct. 11, 2003. This certificate is awarded to plants in the region that have achieved target compliance in areas such as fire prevention, equipment handling and maintenance, material handling, weld and cut assessment, as well as noise level and vibration.
"Safety is something all of us at Oxford Silao take very seriously," said plant manager Pedro Navarrete. "We appreciate being recognized for our efforts."
Not easily achieved, the only other manufacturing plant in the area to meet the necessary requirements is last year's recipient, the General Motors Silao complex.
Oxford's Silao plant, with QS 9000 and ISO 14001 certification, is a 53,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility employing 71 persons. The plant manufactures blanks for body side inners/outers, hood outers/inners and mechanisms such as hand parking brakes and jacks and its main customers are General Motors, Nissan, Aventec, AK Steel and US Steel.
