Kimball Electronics Group Names Vice President for North American Operations; Kevin R. Smith to Lead Business Growth Efforts

JASPER, Ind.--Oct. 2, 20037, 2003--Kimball Electronics Group, a subsidiary of Kimball International, Inc., announced today the appointment of Kevin R. Smith as Vice President of North American Operations. Kimball Electronics Group is a global contract electronics manufacturing services company that specializes in durable electronics, primarily in the automotive, telecommunications and industrial controls markets.

Smith, 44, joined Kimball Electronics in 1984. During his career with Kimball, Smith has been instrumental in the process re-engineering of order and demand fulfillment, as well as leading enhancements within the Company's operational areas. In his most recent assignment, as General Manager of Kimball Electronics' primary domestic high-volume plant, located in Jasper, Indiana, Smith was focused on developing the organization to better serve its customers. His new responsibilities will include oversight of four manufacturing plants, providing executive sponsorship for key growth opportunities and working closely with the Business Development Managers in the pursuit of new business across North America. Smiths' leadership will focus on maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction, including organizational readiness in response to the challenges globalization brings to the Company's North American operations. Kimball Electronics Group currently has manufacturing operations located in Indiana, Mexico, Poland and Thailand.
