Wednesday, October 29th @ 1:30 p.m. Contest Challenge: Tuner Cars for the Year 2020 PLUS: Meet '2Fast, 2Furious' and 'XXX' Film Auto Designer Eddie Paul WHAT: MOTOR TREND will announce the winners of the CIAS MOTOR TREND 2003 International Design Contest at the California International Auto Show in Anaheim, CA, where some of the most renowned designers in the automotive industry and ten lucky finalists will gather for the final round of judging and awards presentation ceremony. Some of the most influential designers in the automotive field gather at this internationally renowned and prestigious event to pick the winner. This year's entrants are asked to design cars tuner cars from the year 2020. The designs will be on public display throughout the day of the press conference and some of the prizes to be awarded include: Best of Show -- $2,500, 1st place design professional -- $1,000 and 1st place design student -- $1,000 scholarship towards the college or university attended. The designer must select the make and model of the car, either in production or already discontinued, and then incorporate modern performance themes to create a year-2020 version of the vehicle. Each design submission includes a minimum of three perspectives, including a rendering of the interior that identified the instrumentation and driver controls. Entries also include a brief synopsis explaining how the design was conceptualized, as well as the car's technical and general specifications.
