PR: SeekItaly.com Launches Italian Travel
Portal with Local Feel
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SeekItaly.com Launches Italian Travel Portal with Local Feel
ROME, Italy, Oct. 27, 2003 -- There are hundreds, if not
thousands, of travel-related Web sites out there. But how
many of them are published in English, by lifelong residents
of Rome, with a focus on helping travelers get the most out
of their time in Italy? Just one: SeekItaly.com
(www.seekitaly.com).
With today's launch of SeekItaly.com, travelers interested
in visiting Italy can get up-to-the-minute travel alerts and
information about Rome, Venice, Milan, Florence, Naples and
scores of other Italian destinations. The site provides free
online destination guides and photos, weather forecasts and
local history; it also helps visitors plan itineraries and
choose and reserve hotel rooms, vacation rentals, car
rentals and airline tickets.
Yet for all its services, SeekItaly.com maintains a personal
feel, as if the visitor were talking face-to-face with a
delightful local guide. That's largely due to the creative
force behind the site: Gianni Serra, founder and president
of SeekItaly.com. Serra has lived in Rome for 43 years. He
knows his city inside and out, knows its attractions, its
restaurants, its hotels and its people. He gives advice
freely to tourists and enjoys helping folks have memorable,
enjoyable stays in Rome and other Italian destinations.
"There is so much to see and do in Italy, it can be a little
overwhelming to the first-time visitor," Serra says. "A
UNESCO source has said that 63% of the world's cultural
patrimony is in Italy. That's a lot to take in if you've
never been here before, especially if you don't speak the
language. But those of us who live here know which
destinations and attractions visitors truly shouldn't
miss-even some that are less well-known but equally
stunning. I decided to offer that local, first-hand
knowledge to travelers from around the globe, in an effort
to make each person's visit to Italy the trip of a
lifetime."
In keeping with his philosophy, Serra also offers some
services personally: free brief English/Italian
translations, assistance with finding and browsing Italian
Web sites, help with contacting and corresponding with
people, Webmasters and businesses online, and an entire
section on all things Roman. He even invites SeekItaly.com
visitors to send him questions about Rome and Italy via
e-mail, which he generally answers in seven business days or
less, and periodically sends out a newsletter full of travel
offers, suggestions and news about SeekItaly.com.
"I feel that Italy is the most interesting, most exciting,
most beautiful destination in the world," says Serra. "I am
proud to share a little bit of it with others, to help them
experience the joy of being in Italy."
