Auberlen to start 3rd, Will Turner 8th in San Juan Touring race
BMW of North America, LLC Notes and Quotes Speed Touring World Challenge Round 10 Qualifying Isla Grand Prix Circuit San Juan, Puerto Rico Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003 Race Date: Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003 Contact: Bill Cobb 215-295-3115 Bill Auberlen to start third and Will Turner eighth in Speed Touring race in Puerto Rico Bill Auberlen, who's already clinched the 2003 SCCA Pro Racing Speed Touring Driver's Champion, qualified his No. 93 Turner Motorsport BMW 325i in third for Sunday's Speed Touring race at the Isla Grand Prix Circuit in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with a lap of 1:15.691 around the 1.6-mile, 10-turn track. Turner Motorsport owner, Will Turner, will start eighth in his No. 92 Turner Motorsport BMW 325i to round out the top 10 for BMW. Matt Plumb, second in the Rookie-of-the-Year standings by only 17 points, will start 13th in his No. 50 duPont Motorsport BMW 325. Rookie leader Tim Pappas qualified his Lexus in 22nd. BMW clinched the 2003 Speed Touring Manufacturer's Championship in Round 9 at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga. The 50-minute race is scheduled to start Sunday at 12:30 p.m. WILL TURNER, No. 92 TURNER MOTORSPORT BMW 325i (eighth): "It is going to be a tough start from eighth, but my BMW launches so well that I should be able to pass a few on the start. I have some aggressive drivers ahead of me so I will have to be careful, as I need to be around at the end. I am third in points so I have to keep my eye on Chuck Hemmingson and Jeff Altenburg. Both are behind me in points but starting ahead of me tomorrow."
