case

Note: Trying to keep our word and keep you informed on the case of the murders
of Mickey and Trudy Thompson, March 16, 1988, is difficult, to say the least.
Today, (Oct. 23, 2003), oral arguments were again heard by the 4th District Court of Appeal, Div. 3, Santa Ana, regarding the venue issue on the murder case. Michael F. Goodwin was arrested Dec. 2001 and has filed several appeals, one being the jurisdiction of the trial. Two superior court judges have ruled that either Orange County or Los Angeles County could have jurisdiction, which is what is being appealed by Goodwin's defense.
The murders were committed in Bradbury, CA, Los Angeles County. However, Goodwin lived and worked in Orange County. Mickey Thompson's business was in Orange County, as was Anaheim Stadium where the legal battles between the two were raging. The prosecution alleges the conspiracy to commit murder and the murders were planned in Orange County and
other incriminating evidence against Goodwin also took place in Orange County.
The District Court of Appeal ordered both the defense and the prosecution to file more briefs by Nov. 7. So the case continues at the District Court of Appeal until the DCA issues their opinion sometime after Nov. 7.
