World-Renowned Designer Horacio Pagani Visits Savannah College of Art and Design

Pagani's Zonda C12 S Supercar on Display, One of Only Two in the United States

Pagani Test Drives Zonda C12 S and EXO Spyder, Concept Car Designed and Built by SCAD Students

SAVANNAH, Ga., Oct. 23 -- Forget about Lamborghinis and Ferraris. One of the rarest -- and most expensive -- cars in the world is being showcased today, with an even rarer appearance by the car's creator.

Horacio Pagani, creator of the elite supercar Zonda, test drove his automotive masterpiece as well as the EXO Spyder, a concept car designed and built by SCAD students. The world-renowned industrial designer, who rarely visits the United States, will dedicate the college's new Gulfstream Center for Design, home of the furniture and industrial design departments, on Oct. 24, 4 p.m.

In March 1999, the first version of Pagani's Zonda C12, using a Mercedes 6-liter 450 hp engine, was presented at the world-renowned Geneva International Auto Show. The Zonda C12 supercar has been recognized as the 2001 Car of the Year (Evo magazine, England), 2002 Performance Car of the Year (CAR magazine, South Africa), and 2002 Specialist Car Manufacturer Awards (Autocar Magazine, New Zealand, 2002).

The Zonda C12 S is being displayed and driven at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga. The car, which retails for more than $300,000, is made in extremely limited quantities, with only two currently existing in the United States.
