Fel-Pro PermaTorqueMLS Gaskets Continue to Seal Wins In NASCAR Winston Cup Action

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 23, 2003 -- Second-year driver Ryan Newman's victory in the NASCAR Banquet 400 at Kansas Speedway earlier this month put an exclamation mark on an already impressive season for new Fel-Pro PermaTorqueMLS gaskets.

Newman's #12 Dodge Intrepid, which features an R7/P5 "open deck" engine sealed by PermaTorqueMLS multi-layer steel head gaskets, has claimed all eight Winston Cup victories for the Dodge brand this year.

"The Gaskets Professionals Trust," Fel-Pro gaskets are manufactured and marketed by Federal-Mogul Corporation.

"Professionals in every form of motorsports and in the automotive engine building business choose Fel-Pro because they understand that only the best technologies guarantee a perfect seal," said Fel-Pro Marketing Director Raymond King. "The growing presence of PermaTorqueMLS gaskets among NASCAR teams is proof that Fel-Pro is up to the demands of today's newest engine technologies."

Featuring four stainless steel layers, PermaTorqueMLS gaskets allow for lateral and vertical motion of the cylinder head without compromising sealing performance. Each gasket also includes a welded "stopper" combustion seal and fully embossed secondary seal to ensure leak-free performance at maximum rpms and water temperatures. Select PermaTorqueMLS gaskets feature a special aftermarket coating to seal surface finishes as rough as 60 Ra.

"Ours is a very powerful and demanding engine, but Fel-Pro PermaTorqueMLS head gaskets have given us perfect performance in testing and on the racetrack," said Scott Corriher, president of Penske Jasper Engines, builder of Newman's Dodge engine.

Among other leading Winston Cup organizations relying on PermaTorqueMLS gaskets is Dale Earnhardt Inc., which campaigns Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s #8 Chevrolet, the #15 Chevrolet driven by Michael Waltrip and the #1 Chevrolet piloted by John Andretti. "We continue to push the limits of sealing technologies as our engines become more efficient and powerful," said DEI Chief Engine Builder Richie Gilmore. "PermaTorqueMLS gaskets from Fel-Pro have stood up to every challenge."
