Bobby Sak Has Last Shot at Rookie Title at the Puerto Rico Grand Prix
27-point margin leaves outside “mathematical” chance

San Juan PR – Oct. 22, 2003 – It doesn’t help that the final event of 
the 2003 Trans-Am Series Motorock Tour for the BFGoodrich Cup, The 
Puerto Rico Grand Prix, will take place on Jorge Diaz’s home court. 
Regardless, #10 Revolution Motorsports Corvette driver, Bobby Sak will 
make one last effort at running down the current Rookie of the Year 
points race leader.

“Regardless of what I do, in many ways it’s out of my hands,” remarked 
Sak. “In a sense it simply intensifies my single goal… win this race. 
And, even when I win it, Jorge’s day will determine the Rookie of the 
Year title. So… I’m just here to win the race.”

Sak’s chances of winning the inaugural event seem quite good. Sak 
arrives in Puerto Rico coming off a third place podium finish last 
month at the Motorock Miami 100. At this year’s Cleveland Grand Prix, 
Sak spent most of the day in second place chasing down race leader 
Scott Pruett. And, his teammate in that event, Stu Hayner, after a 
first lap incident, came back to lap the entire field and finish the 
day in fifth. The San Juan venue is a virtual mirror of Cleveland as it 
is staged on a temporary circuit at the Isla Grande airport.

“I’m confident we’ll be fast here,” acknowledged Sak. “Our crew can 
really get the car dialed in at temporary facilities. With this being a 
first time event, every team’s on the same learning curve… so I’ll put 
my money on our guys. If they give me the car I had in Cleveland, I’m 
checking out. That car was amazing. It was fast and it would go 
wherever I put it.”

After a sixth place finish at Miami, a relaxed Don Sak [#2 Revolution 
Motorsports Corvette] reflected on his son Bobby’s Rookie season.

“I’m looking forward to this event,” commented the senior Sak. “Bobby 
and Jorge have put on a great Rookie race all year long. They both had 
multiple podium appearances and they brought new blood and excitement 
to the Series. Jorge seems to be a nice young man. I’m sure his father 
is as proud of him as I am of Bobby. The Diaz’s have been terrific. 
They’re an extremely nice family. It’s nice to finish the season in 
Puerto Rico as their guests.”

“That said,” Sak laughed, “those two young guns better watch their 
backs. If this #2 car is anything near what it was in Cleveland, I’m 
gonna bring it!”

Revolution Motorsports will field the #2 and #10 Revolution Motorsports 
Corvettes as part of the Grand Prix of Puerto Rico. The final event of 
the year will take place in Puerto Rico October 26-28. The will be race 
will be broadcast live at 1pm EST on SPEED.

Revolution Motorsports in association with Trenton Forging competes as 
part of the Motorock Trans-Am Tour for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup. All 
events are nationally televised on SPEED. The Trans-Am Series is the 
oldest form of American sports car racing.
