Said Rumbles to Victory in Round Three
of the Tonka 2003 Super Truck Celebrity
Challenge
BRASELTON, GA (October 17, 2003) - The third round of the Tonka 2003 Super
Truck Celebrity Challenge had its share of excitement including Super Truck spins, a
come-from-behind victory and the absence of one truck due to a practice round crash
earlier in the day. When the dust had settled and the Super Trucks crossed the finish line,
road racing specialist Boris Said claimed victory in the Tonka-sponsored Super Truck by
less than one-half a second - a .308 of a second victory over Jan Magnussen in the
Haldex-sponsored truck. 2003 Petit Le Mans LMP675 class winner Duncan Dayton
driving the Panoz truck claimed third, finishing a mere .652 of a second behind Said.
Said came from the back of the pack, having spun his Super Truck earlier in the
race. Despite the spin, Said was impressed with how the truck performed. "STRANA's

be an unbelievable show for the fans. They're a little heavier, but it's funny, the first
vehicle I ever drove was a Tonka truck. The yellow dump truck when I was three years
old."
Duncan Dayton, who was the LMP675 class winner of the 2003 Petit Le Mans
race later in the weekend at Road Atlanta, agreed that the Tonka trucks held a special
place in his heart. "I grew up near Lake Minnetonka and the Tonka factory in Minnesota,
so being able to drive one of these Super Trucks is a great thrill," said Dayton.
Winner of the first ever ALMS "Most Popular Driver" award this year,
Magnussen raised the fan excitement level earlier in the day during the Super Truck
practice rounds. Magnussen and ALMS driver Shane Lewis made contact on the 2.54-
mile Road Atlanta course. Both trucks were damaged and Lewis' STRANA Super Truck
was left out of commission and out of the Tonka Celebrity Challenge race later in the
day.
"All in all it was a great day of racing for the fans, for the series, for STRANA,
for Tonka and for everyone involved," said Brian Till, STRANA Executive Director.
The Tonka 2003 Super Truck Celebrity Challenge was a three-event series held at
Mosport International Raceway, Road America, and Road Atlanta. The Series was taped
for broadcast as three one-half hour shows to be aired on ESPN2 beginning in November.
