Fleetguard Emission Solutions and Environmental Solutions Worldwide Proudly Announce Exclusive Supply and Distribution Agreements for ESW's Particulate Reactor
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Oct. 2, 20030, 2003--Cummins Inc. -- Fleetguard Emission Solutions (FES), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cummins Inc., and Environmental Solutions Worldwide Inc., (OTCBB:ESWW) are pleased to announce the signing of exclusive long term marketing and distribution agreements and preferred supplier agreements for ESW's Particulate Reactor(TM); a proprietary, high performance, metallic, diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC). These agreements cover OEM and retrofit applications in North American, South American and Western European markets as well as markets in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, India and Australia.Key features of the Particulate Reactor(TM) are:
-- Achieves particulate reduction levels greater than 50% for many applications
-- Operates using ultra low sulfur fuel as well as fuel with higher sulfur levels
-- Does not require additional maintenance
-- Does not require fuel additives to achieve this level of performance
-- Fits into the space of existing mufflers.
Fleetguard Emission Solutions has been working closely with ESW to verify the emissions reduction performance and mechanical integrity of the Particulate Reactor (TM). The companies are pursuing joint verification from ARB for a Level 2 particulate matter reduction device (minimum 50% reduction) as well as verification from EPA for their Voluntary Retrofit Program. Particulate Reactor(TM) catalyst based products are designed for on-road vehicles and off-road vehicles and equipment, across the full power range of diesel engines.
The Particulate Reactor(TM) is available today in production quantities for diesel utility engines as well as for limited production and demonstration purposes for heavy-duty applications. Fleetguard Emission Solutions plans to market the unique line of Particulate Reactor(TM) products to its OEM customers and to end user customers through its 27,000 global distribution locations. Fleetguard customers include many of the world's largest diesel engine, vehicle and equipment OEM's.
The rapidly growing worldwide diesel catalyst market is driven by the adoption of significantly more stringent emission regulations for new equipment and by retrofit programs targeted at cleaning up equipment already in use. The distribution and supply agreements are significant, as they will allow both Fleetguard Emission Solutions and ESW to participate more fully in the rapidly growing diesel catalyst market. A large portion of the market does not currently utilize ultra low sulfur fuel. Because of this, many areas have been limited to the use of low PM reduction technology such as conventional diesel oxidation catalysts (between 15% and 30% PM reduction) instead of higher performing technology such as diesel particulate filters (greater than 85% PM reduction). Diesel particulate filters typically require ultra low sulfur fuel. The Particulate Reactor's(TM) premium particulate reduction capabilities (50% minimum) and its compatibility with regular fuel fill a worldwide market niche for a high performance, cost efficient, particulate emission control device that is not constrained by fuel sulfur level.
Mike Cross, Vice President of Fleetguard Emission Solutions comments, "We are excited to be the exclusive marketing, sales and distribution channel for ESW's Particulate Reactor(TM) product in many parts of the world. This product is a valuable new offering in the Fleetguard Emission Solutions portfolio of products. We continue to be committed to supplying the best emission reduction technologies to our customers. The Particulate Reactor(TM) will fill a void in the marketplace for a premium-performing DOC. We are now well positioned to meet the growing aftertreatment needs of our customers in the United States and around the world."
David Johnson, Senior Vice President ESW remarked, "Becoming a Preferred Catalyst Supplier into Fleetguard's vast global distribution network and customer base represents an evolutionary milestone for ESW and its unique, proprietary diesel catalyst technology. 10 years of research and development has yielded a product that has the potential to change the face of the emission reduction industry. Our long-term relationship with FES will facilitate the quickest and broadest path to market for the Particulate Reactor(TM). I am excited about the impact that this product will have on air quality improvements worldwide."
