The New York Times's ''Cars'' Section Sees 13% Increase in Ad Paging

NEW YORK--Oct. 1, 20035, 2003--The New York Times announced today that ad paging in its upcoming "Cars" special news section increased 13% compared with the same section last year for a total of 22 ad pages. The section will be published nationally on Wednesday, October 22.

Published annually since 1997 "Cars" is a stand-alone special news section. The upcoming section will highlight the nation's best-selling automobiles, provide insight on car trends and recent developments in auto safety, feature interviews with auto industry executives and designers and take an inside look at the world of auto racing, car collecting and auto culture.

"Since its introduction six years ago, The New York Times has seen continued advertiser enthusiasm for its 'Cars' special news section," said Jyll Holzman, senior vice president, Advertising, The New York Times. "We're pleased with the section's ad paging performance and its recognition by the auto industry as a good advertising environment."

Advertisers in the upcoming "Cars" section include Bentley, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, General Motors, Hyundai, Infiniti, Lincoln-Mercury, Mississippi Department of Economic and Community Development, Saab, Volvo and more than 50 leading automobile dealerships in the New York metropolitan area.
