Delphi Launches the First Aftermarket Catalyst to Meet OBDII

TROY, Mich., Oct. 15, 2003 -- Delphi Corp. announced today that it is the first to market with an exhaust catalyst technology designed to help meet the new more stringent California OBDII (On Board Diagnostics) automotive aftermarket emissions regulations.

Since 1996, passenger cars and light-duty trucks have been equipped with On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capability to ensure compliance with tailpipe emissions regulations. Traditional aftermarket catalysts may not adequately support the OBD system in later model vehicles, leading to reduced driver information about the efficiency of the exhaust system.

This new catalyst was specifically designed to be both cost efficient and to more effectively support the real-time electronic diagnostics of OBD systems now found on passenger cars and light-duty trucks.

"This catalyst, available now, will properly interact with OBDII systems, enabling those systems to correctly assess the emissions performance of the vehicle.
